Activity Introduction

 

 Ⅰ. The Name and Organizer

Ⅱ. Time and Place 

1. Time: August 16th -21st, 2007, totally six days

2. Place: Singapore

 

Ⅲ. Purpose:

To enrich student life in summer vacation; to foster students’ interests in math learning; to improve students’ ability of living independently and to broaden students’ international vision.

 

Ⅳ. Introduction  

  • Features
  • In the math contest, participators can communicate with students from other countries and regions, help each other and learn from each other.
  • Participators will visit some representative primary schools, secondary schools, famous universities, and educational and academic organizations in Singapore as well as communicate with local students and teachers there.
  • During the visiting, participators can feel the advanced and easy air of education in Singapore, the unique Sino-Foreign civilization and the good natural and cultural environment there.
  • Every student will be given the opportunity to meet and to make new friends.
  • Content
  • Mathematics Contest and Awarding Ceremony
  • The questions in the contest will combine the features of math education in all participating countries
  • Contestants will contest at different level which divided according to their grade in the school.
  • Base on contestants’ performance, the winners will be granted gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal.
  • The winner’s tutor will be granted the certificate of Outstanding Tutor.
  • All certificates will be awarded by the IMC Union Organizing Committee.
  • IMC will hold a red-carpet awarding ceremony in Singapore, and will award winners the certificates and medals on the ceremony.
  • Visiting, communication and lectures: All participators will visit the famous ISSInternationalSchool in Singapore and communicate with students from all over the world there. They will attend some lectures about the international education in Singapore, too.
  • Sight-seeing: Sight-seeing will include most famous scenic spots in Singapore, such as Sentosa, Mont Faber, Jurong BirdPark, Night Safari, Agricultural Farms and etc.
  • Get-together Party: Each school prepares one play or a performance.
  • Call for articles: Write an article with the title: 2007 IMC International Mathematics Contest in My Eyes, and submit it to IMC Union before August 31, 2007. The excellent articles will be published on IMC website and IMC Magazine.

The excellent articles will be published on IMC website and IMC Magazine for promoting participators’ communication and friendship.

 

Notice: Without reducing the activities above, the schedule may be adjusted.

Ⅵ. Prospective Students 

    • Prospective students: students who are interested in Math learning, Primary School: Grade 4-6; Middle School: Grade1-3; High School: Grade1-2.
    • Requirements: Students who want to apply must have good health condition (no serious disease or infection), have the ability to live independently, follow the disciplines and lead teacher’s command.

 

Ⅶ. Apply and Admission Method 

  • Apply 
  • Take each school as a unit, students can apply in group. Then the school submits all its students’ applications to the organizing committee directly or applies on line www.imcchina.cn . In the same way, students can apply to the organizing committee by themselves as well. The committee will approve the applications effective after received the group fees.
  • When applying, all students and leader teachers are obliged to hand in RMB 5300.00 Yuan (every 15 students can bring with a teacher for free) including the contest organizing fee, abroad accommodation fees, abroad travel fees, and fees for round air tickets, tax, insurance, visa, uniform making, training, paper and documents making and traffic from the appointed place to air port in Beijing. The fees do not include the other fees for the group to traffic and to accommodate in and out Beijing.
  • The deadline for applying is June 15th, 2007 (apply before May 31st can receive discount )
  • All students have to complete the application form seriously, at the same time provide relevant documents, including the photocopy of the first page on Passport and ID card (students and teachers get passports by themselves), according to the requirements on the application form.
  • Schools and organizations outside Beijing who want to organize students to attend this contest please call the organizing committee for counseling. (contact information see Article Ⅹ)
  • Admission
  • Students who apply in school (or training school) unit will enjoy priority to be selected to the contest; each unit can recommend 15-30 students.
  • Students will be accepted base on their application time, first come first served, until no position left.

Ⅷ. Fees Refund 

All applicants who withdraw or fail to get visa due to any reasons before June 15th, 2007 (the deadline for applying) will be refunded the total fees. Since June 15th, 2007, anyone who fails to fill the appointment for his or her own reason will not receive any refund.

Ⅸ. Type of Visa and Exit & Entry Requirements

According to the group visa requirements, all group members have to exit and enter together. The visa is no shown individual passport.
